Is it possible to buy I-DEAS from SDRC? 1

I spent many years using it in the 90s and early 2000s . I liked it a lot . I think it is still better than some of the open-source free meshing tools available today. So is there any way to buy it? I assume it would have to run in some kind of old UNIX emulator?

SDRC was bought by Siemens, and I-DEAS was merged with Unigraphics to become NG. I-DEAS may still published by Siemens PLM Software (formerly known as UGS Corp).

We rarely meshed in I-DEAS, the mesh monkeys were wedded to Hypermesh.

I-Deas is still alive and supported. Lastest version is NX I-Deas 6.8 , I-Deas has been Windows 10 compatible since NX 6.6

Hasn't been any significant new functionality since NX I-Deas 6.0 released back in 2008. Updates since only for licensing/operating system compatibility.

It's not activly sold, Siemens have been encouraging all I-Deas users to move to NX (Unigraphcs) for the last 20 years ! but speak to Siemens or your local VAR and I'm sure they will sell you a copy, we bought a license in 2019 to support legacy data.

Easiest option would probably be to buy a license of NX, you can run I-Deas against an NX license.

Interesting, I wasn't aware it's still alive and supported. Back in 2015 we were unable to install it on Windows 8? machines. Siemens said it is no longer supported and is not compatible with Windows 8 ( or 7 , can't remember )..

So wonder what happened that now it is supported by Windows 10? Maybe we talked to the wrong people at Siemens? In any case there were just a handful of users left and felt it was better to finally put the nail in the coffin.
