An irrigation lateral flows several miles from the mainline canal to users, through open ditches, pipes and culverts. The current flow volume is adequate for existing users (the ditch is not full).
As new users are added at the bottom end, I need to estimate if the additional demand can pass through the culverts, or if they will need to be upsized.
What is the best way to calculate a ballpark estimate of maximum possible flow through a culvert, ditch or pipe??
