I have a problme with the synthesis of a guanidine synthesis as the resulting product is a salt (with hydrogen iodide). I have partially removed some of the HI by stirring the solid in 2 M NaOH but this results in hydrolysis of another group of the product. Does anyone have any experience on removal/exchane of the hydrogen iodide salt?
