Hello, can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? I want a spline which is 15mm in diameter. Have I mixed up the symbols or something? Please advise...
Stay with all module system or all inch system.
DP in inches = 25.4 / 7.5 = 3.38666666666"
Module is 7.5mm
Pitch Diameter is 20 x 7.5mm = 150mm
Base Diameter = Cos30 x 150mm = 129.9038106mm
Circular Pitch = 1.570796327 x Module = 11.780872mm
If your Pitch Diameter is 15mm then divide the above
values by 10.
The double Module 7.5/15 means that module is 7.5
and the addendum and dedendum are half of the normal
addendum and dedendum. That is the only place the
15 part of the number is used. It is similar to the
Fellows Stub System in the inch system.
The minor diameter would be equal to the 15mm pitch diameter
minus .75mm equals 14.25mm, and the major diameter would be equal to the pitch diameter plus .9375mm which would equal 15.9375mm. This assumes no profile shift in the basic design.
