Inverted Jib-Crane?

Hi,

Does anybody know where I could find an inverted jib-crane? The type I want is a wall cantilever jib-crane such as the one on McMaster-Carr # 3729T77 but what I want to do is install it where the vertical beam is flipped. That is, the vertical beam is entirely above the horizontal beam.

Are there any companies that could actually provide this with a rating. It is the same part but i would want it to be rated for the 2,000 lbs. Is it even possible to install it like that or really not advised?

These are referred to as a top support crane, and there is one example on the same catalog page as the crane you referenced.

Yes i saw those models but these models have the tie-rod which you need to consider when looking at the travel of the jib-crane. It ends up taking a lot more room than the standard cantilever jib-crane.

But I guess that doesn't exist.

OK, I think I understand. You just want the rotating mount without any support. The mast and the head are part of the support structure on a conventional jib crane, and it would become a function of building up the necessary structure on which to mount a very short jib crane, for lack of a better decsription. Could get to be much more support structure and taking up more room than a wall mounted top support crane. Bridge cranes might be worth looking at, as well. They take up the least space relative to the work area, and may not require the foundation work of a jib crane or the wall structure of a top support crane. Just a thought.
