My research area is effect of fire on pipelines. I have modelled the effect of fire on the pipeline causing stresses leading to failure. I am seeking info to model the scenario in case the inventory coming out of a puncture catches fire. I am looking for reasonable figures regarding the temperature from the flares, the shape, size of flares. Since I am looking for a case where a secondary failure may occur I would need certain temperatures from a flare from an ignited inventory, is there such data? Further are there certain heat transfer values that are available from fires impinging pipelines? What are the Ultimate Tensile Stress values for Carbon Steel? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

The following are probably geared more towards pressure vessels but they have a discussion about the nature of fires that may be useful...
"Review of the Response of Pressurised Process Vessels and Equipment to Fire Attack"

and you may want to look through the other reports available...

Also, there was an article in Chemical Engineering Progress, September 2002, "Size Depressurization and Relief Devices for Pressurized Segments Exposed to Fire". I don't have a direct link to that file but this is to the archive...
