Is anyone aware of composite molding compounds which are inherently intumescent, that is, in the presence of a fire form a protective char layer insulating the base material ?
 
Here's a few of the products that we typically specify for building construction. These are all manufacturers of intumescent putty pads, usually installed at electrical boxes and cable penetrations. Hope this helps.
