INTRALINK 3.1 and VPN

When trying to install INTRALINK 3.1 Build 2001361 on a machine that is accessing the license server via a VPN connection an error is generated indicating the flexlm server process can not be detected on the host machine. When performing an installation of Pro\E 2001 or INTRALINK 3.0 on the same mahcine with the same type of VPN connection the installation is successful and the license server is recognized. Is anyone using INTRALINK 3.1 over a VPN connection and if so can you provide any input on this issue?
