I am looking into expanding my knowledge in the seismic area of structural engineering. To date, I have not done any seismic design/analysis (due to the location which I work). I have found a Webinar that appears to be a good intoduction for this. It covers the following topics:
SP-A: Seismic Data and Seismic Design Criteria
SP-B: Seismic Characteristics of Engineered Systems
SP-C: Seismic Forces
SP-D: Seismic Analysis Procedures
SP-E: Seismic Detailing and Construction Quality Control
The website states that this is a class for preparing to take the California PE.
I am not preparing to take the California PE, nor do I work in the area. My question is:
Does California approach Seismic Engineering different enough that taking this class would be a poor decision?
What type of deltas should I expect to see in regards to taking the SE in other states (Illinois) and the code applications?
