Greetings
I have a CST 3 noded element(1-4-5) connected on one of its sides to a bilinear 4 noded quadrilateral(1-2-3-4) as shown in figure below.
I have the following queeries
1) The DOFS of both elements are same ( 2 DOFS per node) can add the stiffness contributions coming from CST And QUAD element at the common nodes 1 and 4
2) What is the state of inter element compatibility at the face 1-4? How do i make it compatible. Iam folloing just a Displacement formulation for FE analysis and not a mixed formulation.

Thanks and regards

DrRaj:

1. Yes...the stiffness from the CST and Quad add at nodes 1 and 4.

2. Both elements are linear displacement (constant strain) elements so they are compatible...You don't have to do anything....
