Intake Silencing

Gentlemen:

Does anyone out there have any formulas for intake pipe length and/or diameters that can be used between the intake manifold and an air cleaner on a NA 4-stoke diesel to help silence the intake noise/pulses.. I believe I read something about this once and I am curious if someone else has attached this issue before..

You should be able to find lots of info on Helmholtz and 1/4 wave silencers. For what its worth I have seen Helmholtz resonators used on either side of the air cleaner.

The word "Helmholtz" was the key-- A quick search and I came up with this past thread. Exactly what I was looking for to get me started.
