I've got some steel lamintaion strips that are used in a guitar pickup to cut down on eddy currents when transfering magnetic flux from the magnets to the pole pieces. They're about .027 thick and stacked about 8 high. I've been insulating them with varnish and it's a little too labor intensive. Is it possible to get an oxide coating on them from an annealing/heat process that won't warp them? Can any heat treating company do this? Is there a spec of some sort?
