Hi,
Does anyone know where i can find info only REAL basics of instrumentation?

I find it very interesting but i really dont know anything about it?

Any pointers as to what i need to know first?

Well very vaguely, i know things like I/O exists, safety barrier, 4-20mA signals, transmitter, digital/analog, control valves.

Hardware basics i know but whats inside it, is what i want to learn
When people discuss about signals and I/O i cannot imagine what they are. They talked about cabling and marshalling etc, transmitter, positioner.

You can learn a lot from the information that component manufacturers provide for free. So pick a few components and start downloading.
Marketing brochures are of relatively limited use.
Get the installation/ maintenance manuals and study them.

i think you get easy to learn instrumentation by doing some practice in oil plant.

Nice link. The one thing I couldn't find that I have been looking for for a long time was the specific heat of cheese, as in Pizza cheese when it burns the top of your mouth if you take a bite while too hot (excuse me - at too high of a temperature.)
