Hi. I cannot find the answer anywhere so I'm asking here. Is it less efficient to install a plate heat exchanger laying down with the plates facing upwards? If so why is that?

Regards/

Dimitri

I have seen them installed at an incline.
I would worry about placing one flat as it may trap air and not be able to be fully wetted.

Orientation of the nozzles and the HX is only relevant when you've got 2 phase flow ( vapor/ liquid) on either one of the 2 sides of the HX. For single phase liquid flow, check that you've got vent nozzles at a high point to fully prime the HX on startup.
