As per API650 , 5.3.4 reinforcement pad shall be pnumatic tested upto 100kPa, but our client is cocerned about the pressure gauge range. Is there any specific requirement spelled in API. pL HELP

Nothing in API. Industry standard, codified in ASME, is for the test gauge range to be between 1.5 and 4 times the test pressure.

I prefer a 25 psig - 175 kPa gauge for the 10 psig repad testing. 200 kPa would also be a good choice.

The standard for gauge range I have used is zero to between 1.5 times and 4 times the test pressure. This is the standard in UG-102(b) of Section VIII Div 1 of the ASME BPVC.

Note: ASME uses the word "gage" for the testing apparatus, if you are searching an electronic file.

I agree with Duwe6. API 650 has nothing related to the choice of gauges. We have been referring to ASME Sec. VIII as well as a good engineering practice.

However, a few of our Client specifications state this a little differently...

"All gages shall have test pressure ranges 40 percent to 80 percent of the full range."
