I am planning to design an Infrared learner.Can anyone help me in that matter?
Can anyone suggest me where the circuits for IR learner are available?

what do you mean by Infrared "learner"?

do you want linear analog opto isolator?

or maybe you meant an IR remote controller?

Hi

I want to design a gadget which should store a particular function ( say ON --of TV).So tomorrow no need to use TV remote....
Just press the key of this gadget.
The basic concept of this project is to make people free of different remotes..

First if i will be able to work with one function then i can integrate more.

Most TV remote controllers send a conventional number of pulses to IR emitter diode in a known amount of time, to send a command to TV.

For exmaple to send ON command, you can send 10 pulses in 2 milliseconds!

Ofcourse these numbers vary on different types of remote controllers.

But, I didn't understand that what is difference for user to press ON button of his TV remote controller or a button in your gadget?

Is it too difficult for people to press buttons of different remote controllers??!!

not to mention the fact that universal remotes already exist and cost less than $15 in most stores like KMart and Walmart.

If you are in this for learning, the best thing to do is to reverse-engineer the existing product, since it will contain everything that you're looking to do.

Hi IR: I don't think reverse eng-ing is a good idea - ASICs,unmarked or specially markad parts may make it almost impossible.

The JP1 remotes are cheap and have been thoroughly hacked. See hifi-remote.com and groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1 for more info on JP1.

There's also been some discussions on the yahoo board lately about using a PC to control an IR blaster.

Those guys could also probably give you some tips on DIY if you really wanna go down that path.

Hi

I am designing a IR learner which will control not only ON OFF but also various functions such as Volume control , channel control etc.

I am using ATMEL microcontroller, TSOP 1738 receiver and a normai IR LED. The problem is TSOP 1738's center frequency is 38 KHz, whereas certain remote control's signals are modulated at 32KHz, 40 KHz.

So should I use 3-4 different receivers.
