Influence of tool material conductivity on calculation time

Hi everyone, two cutting simulations here. Everything's same except tool material. Both dynamic, temp-disp, explicit.

Simulation 1, I used tool material A, which has the conductivity of 120.

Sinulation 2, I used tool material B, which has the conductivity of 1000, 9 times larger than material A.

When I run simulation 2, it takes longer time and the error "the analysis may need more than 2000000..." always appears.

I take it as if the conductivity is higher, it involves more elements to transfer heat and therefore higher calculation time.

Maybe I am wrong. Is there any other explanation and any solution to this matter?

Thermal conductivity of material influences stable time increment:

Δt=(L^2)/(2α)

where: L - smallest element dimension, α=k/(ρc) - thermal diffusivity, k - thermal conductivity, ρ - density, c - specific heat

You can change other factors that influence stable time increment (mass scaling, mesh density decrease).
