inclination of propeller shaft

I was thinking that the inclined-shaft is used in the small boats construction. In the LNG steam ship the propeller shaft is also inclined sligtly.
I will be glad if I hear the reason for such inclination
thks.

 
With a horizontal shaft, the hull has to be deep enough to allow withdrawal of the crankshaft from the bottom of the crankcase, and still have some structure under the engine.

With an inclined shaft, you can get the crank out without significantly notching the engine bearers.
