In specifications for fabrication of steel structures,I find one clause -" Bolted bracing length to be reduced by 1/1000 for draw", I did not understand this meaning.Kindly elaborate anybody ?
What is this specification from? I remember from a long time ago about specifying shims to limit the amount of "draw" required in a face-plate bolted connection. Draw meaning the pull together in tension of the joint on the bolted member. Your spec seems to limit this pull-up on the brace to the brace length divided by 1000. What kind of connection is this? The note may have been applied without the appliers knowing what it meant.
dear buggar,
thanks for quick reply
actually its just a sentence typed in specifications of fabrications.
but you have given me a better insight into this.
Good job. If I come across anything further in this regards, I will share.
Thank again. Marry Christmas Brother.
Enjoy.
Apparently similar to that already offered by others, though I have seen an apparently similar requirement that was in theory to induce a "minimum preload" in members to control vibration/rattling etc.
