Hmm, I worked for the Valero St. Charles Refinery when they installed their new hydrocracker. I thought that was the record - there were three lifts performed just like this one, with the largest vessel having walls 11" thick! Mammoet did the lifts. The largest vessel caused huge dips in the state highway where it crossed the road.

I'll have to go check my files to see what the weight on that sucker was.

I was lucky enough to see many very large lifts during my 5 years there. 300+ ft tall Cat Cracker replaced by Altair-Strickland's Heavy Fabrication Division in 2011 (the Cat was one of my units), Coke drum replacement in 2012, Hydrocracker in 2013. Also started up a bio-diesel unit there as well. I miss that place, but sadly, just too far from my home. The commute was a bear. Got some great pictures, though!

Be sure and watch the Youtube video linked at the bottom, it is very well done.
There's lots of heavy-hauling/heavy lifting/giant crane stuff on youtube, but unfortunately, the bigger it is, the slower it moves, so it's not as interesting as you might expect.

Yep, that video is quite nice. I only wish they'd done the same at St. Charles! They even built a concrete bridge across River Road just to bring the equipment over the levee. It is strange to see a bridge that goes from the river to...nowhere (except onto Valero's property, of course). I suppose they will use it again, someday. Who knows?

Thanks for the video, that is fascinating.

Our shop is fabricating some vessels that will be using lifting blinds for installation, and they're coming out bigger than anything we've done in the past. When I saw this video I had to laugh when I saw the lifting blind they used, how thick is that!?
