Hi,

I've recently started in a company and am doing a review of their impregnation process that is used to make their carbon seals non-porous. I was wondering if anyone could point me to some good literature on impregnation, I know the basic stages and whats going on during them but I'm trying to see is there a way to calculate the amount of impregnation cycles the seal will have to go through before it is fully air tight or even how to calculate the depth of impregnation from each cycle and so far all I can find are companies trying to sell me their units.

The seals are being made from amorphous carbon and so I am assuming that the materials porosity wont be regular or uniform between different samples, am I correct?

Thank you oh and sorry if this isn't in the right section!
