Dear all,

I am wondering if it is possible to impose a symmetry condition in ABAQUS such that the final solution obtained has that particular symmetry. I am trying to model a wedge disclination in a 2D disc. The problem simply contains a disc with a pie (of certain angle \omega) removed. Then the pie is closed which results in a strained disc.

The solutions of the problem, i.e. the stresses/strains etc., have to be radially symmetric. But the initial configuration is not symmetric due to the presence of a wedge removed from the disc. Can anyone please suggest any ideas as to how i can impose a condition in ABAQUS such that the final solution is radially symmetric?

Thanks.
