Anyone know how to import PLOT3D format files into NASTRAN?
Thanks.

Would you import the plot3d into Nastran or Patran?

what the source of plot3d file?

Why you need to import it into Nastran?

could you explain a bit more please?

regards

Hi Onda,

Thanks for the reply!

My end goal is to get the files into the SC/Tetra CFD package. It doesn't take Plot3d files directly, but it does take Nastran format (also takes Universal, Abaqus, STL, DXF formats). So using Nastran (/Patran) as a go-between looked like a possible solution.

The files are Plot3d mesh (grid) files that we got from a business contact. We'd like to set up SC/Tetra models using them.

Thanks again,

- David

The only way I found to do the translation is using ICEM CFD, could read a plot3D file and write a nastran deck file or what other you need.

I'm sorry but I couldn't be of more help

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll see if I can get access to ICEM.
