I am modelling a pile as a 3D thick beam in LUSAS and want to impose a distributed load onto the pile that varies with height. I have the information of the loading against height in spreadsheet form - is there any way of getting LUSAS to read the data from this spreadsheet (or other external program) rather than having to input it into LUSAS directly?

Set up a line variation, under the utilities menu.

Then click on the top left box of the table to select all cells, then do a CTRL V to paste the excel table.
Save the variation dataset with a name.

Define a loading, structural, local distributed, in attributes menu. Pick the X direction (local beam U), and pick the arrow on the right hand side. Select the variation previously defined. A scaling factor can also be applied.

Apply this load to the required beam.
