Dear all,

I'm an electronic engineer but never done PROTEL seriously before!! I'd like to design a circuit that will sit on a board with an odd shape, having holes and curves everywhere. Can I import the board shape from Autocad and design my PCB there? I usually prefered to design the small PCBs in Autocad but this time the project is serious.
Any help is appreciated in advance.

I'm pretty sure you can do this in all the most recent versions of protel. You import the shape as a .dxf / .dwg.

Prety standard functionality on pcb packages these days.

Yes, you can import .dwg or .dxf into Protel. I have had better results with .dwg files.

Thanks for your helps. I'll try it.

If you need more help with Protel, I suggest you join the Protel EDA Users at this is a very useful source of help and general info. They have a back up at for when the other e-mail server is down.

If you are using Protel DXP, there is another users group available from the Protel web site:

Good luck,
