Import Surface From one Part into another In Solidworks

Does anyone know how to copy a surface from one part then import that surface into another part then extrude a feature offset from the import surface?

In the source part, select the surface bodyyou want to export, then do a "Save as --> parasolid". During the Save as, you will be asked whether to export all bodies or only selected bodies. You can then import that parasolid into any other SW part file.

I believe you can also select faces to export. I've never done it, but I recall that being an option.

You can import the part, insert into an assy, then create a new surface based off the imported surface.

There's something more specific you can do. Something like right-click your saved surface body (assuming you did an offset of zero to create a separate body in the feature tree) and select Features > Save Body As. Doing this from memory. I think the part is automatically opened as a surface body, with the name you designated.

When you insert a part file into an assembly you can then save the assembly as a part file. This will give you 3 options to save the part file

1 - exterior faces (surfaces)
2 - exterior components
3 - all components

you may want to knit a surface (the surface you want to export) in the original part file (before putting it into an assembly) and then delete a solid body before sending it to an assembly.
