I'm having trouble importing geometry I've sketched in Solidworks into my axisymmetric ABAQUS CAE model. I've tried messing around with the settings in SW (export options as solid, surface, and wire), tried a few file types (iges, step, dxf, sat), and tried converting the sketch to a surface before exporting. I've also tried the import options in ABAQUS - importing as a sketch, importing as a part (both solid and axisymmetric). No matter what I do, I get an error:

The file cannot be read. It may be a corrupt ACIS file. (or STEP file, ect.)

Anyone have any advice?

Hi,
I used to extrude or revolve the solid in Solidworks and export as .xt, step or anything A/CAE would accept.
In A/CAE I would cut the model and sketch on the cross section where I would extract the edges from the solid (the symbol that looks like a wedge of cheese). Once I had all edges I'd save that sketch and use it for making an axisymmetric model.

Maybe there is a better way.
