Hello Everybody,

I have got and assembly made of 16 parts, I need to perform modal
analysis and thermal analysis. I have exported the assembly into IGES
and then imported into Pro/Mech, but some parts are converted to
surfaces and some are solids, whatever option I tick in the IGES
converter.

Any thoughts or suggestion on how to overcome the problem?

Thanks

what version of ProE and mechanica are you using? are you using integrated or independant menchanica?

James

Hello, and thanks for your reply,

I am using Pro/eng wildfire 2 and an independant mechanica, for some reason mechanica wont start from pro engineer.

this is probably due to the fact the the interoperability sttings on set up haven't been set up properly.. run pro setup and under interoperability settings you need to tell Pro when the mechanica directory is.

integrated mode is much easier to learn for a new user.

When you say run setup you mean the main installation disk? if so, need to talk to the network admin. I am a end user.

Thanks

Fabio

no you don;t need the disks just run setup from the local machine in you loadpoint.. for example

C:\PTC\proeWildfire2.0\bin\ptcsetup.bat

I have got a ptcsetup.bat, is the same file?

Fabio

Thanks James, now i can run mechanica from proeng, but i have question:

Should I tick the FEM Mode box or not?.....I am used to the other interface....

Thanks

Fabio

well I don't use FEM mode..so I' dont personally do too much serious work with mechanica so maybe somebody else had a thought on it??

Thanks James.

Now i can also have a bit of control on the mesh, even it is still far from what i would like...but life is not easy...
