import displacements

Hi, I am very new to ansys and am using ansys 12.

need to solve a structural mechanics problem; know the xy strain fields on the top surface of a rectangular piece of gel and need to solve for the stress field.

i can produce the displacement at every node (5000 nodes) on the top xy plane and now need to import this. read that *tread can be used but am still very confused.

Can someone give a specific example and maybe include an example import file?
