As long as the existing dataset doesn't have a status, you should be able to use the "overwrite" option when importing (specify the existing item ID and revision for the new part). If you want to overwrite files that do have a status, you will need to get your admin to remove the status before importing. Or, you could import the NX part as the next revision or as a new item.
