I have to weld 2"sch80 A 312 TP 316L with A182 F316L Flange.The design code is ASME B31.3 & MDMT is -110 deg C. I got a PQR of P8 to P8 with Impact done at -196 deg C.The thickness of coupon was 7mm.
Fabrication drawing note shows Impact test is required per ASME B31.3 Now my question is, does my above PQR will support the above joint
Or 403.6 of ASME sec IX will come into play.
A quick reply is appreciated.

Lahane,
Not sure what you didn't get ?
7mm thick coupon to B31.3 Table 323.3.1 qualifies you from T/2 (3.5 mm) to T + 6 (13 mm) so a Sch 80 2" (5.54 mm WT) is fine as per B31.3.

One thing I am unsure of - if you are working to B31.3 why did you not open B31.3 and either look for the section on impact tests or type Impact Test in the Search Engine - just as I did.
These forums are meant to be for people who have tried to locate something, had no luck and then asked for assistance.
Seems it is too easy sometimes to just post and let others do the searching.
Another thing, remember fabrication code always over rules ASME IX so B31.3 is your governing document.

Kiwi

thanks kiwi,
this means for 13.5 mm ,I have to qualify a new PQR ?
2T qualification per QW 451 of ASME SEC IX will not be applicable to this?
