hey there..

im trying to make a finite value for the thread depth, as apposed to a 'to cylinder extent' value for the cylinder, but each time i enter a value for the finite depth, and click on finish, it threads the whole cylinder, (not just the part i mentioned).

do any of you know how to face this problem?

thanks a lot!!

Hi,

this is works as designed. Woraround:
- place a parallel plane at a distance from one end of the
cylinder to the position where the thread should end
- then apply the thread to that part

Instead of a plane you can make a tiny circular cutout
depth approx. thread(flank) height, width say 0.001mm

/Edit

forgotten to mertion: the thread is OK when done it's only
the colour that does not recognize the finit extent. so
nothing to worry about. It's a long standing wish to change
that behaviour ...

Hi,

for an example see

Thread

the workaround mentioned in my 1st posting was missing the
SplitFace. The thread will follow any changes of the plane's
distance.
