I am looking for the performance curve and fuel consumption rate for an old international diesel engine (UD-282). The engine is the drive unit for a low lift Berkeley irrigation pump. I called Case IH for tech support, they directed me to local dealer who has no tech manual for an engine that old. None of the local mechanics have access to the curves. My next step is to look at the fuel injection pump and see if there are consumption rates for it. Any other ideas?

I don't think you are going to glean much by looking at the fuel pump. First off the amount of fuel delivered is also partially dependent on the injectors. Second, you are only going to inject enough fuel as is necessary to meet your power demand. I would think that if you can find consumption rates for other diesels at the same engine speed on this same water pump your IH will be in the same ballpark. The difference in parasitic losses and engine efficiencies will be small compared to the power demanded by the pump. (assuming both do or do not have a turbo)
