Hi

I have a model which i developed in solidworks and exported this model into abaqus for my analysis. It is an irregular shaped model with a given height. However i need to apply a shear force on one of its face at the centre. How do i find the centre of the model to apply force?

I am confused. Are you talking about the geometric center (centroid) or the center of mass? I guess you are referring to the geometric center. Why do you need either one to apply a shear force? Or, are you simply trying to find out the centroid of the model?

Sorry, I was referring to the centroid of the particular face. But I am not sure as to how I could find the centroid as the surface is irregularly shaped.
