Hi Colleagues,

I hope this time someone helps me.I am going to start a project where we´ll make finite element models of composite shapes (fiber and epoxy). The goal is to check their properties under different load conditions, response to vibrations, connections, etcetera. I wonder if Ideas NX 11 is right for this job and what facilities it has to offer in case the answer is yes. Thanks in advance.

Victor,

I don't know anything about Ideas NX 11, so I avoided your questions. The closest thing to an industry standard for FEA of composites is probably Abaqus. There are other programs capable of analyzing composites (especially ones as simple as yours sounds): Algor, NENastran, COSMOS, ANSYS, MSC Nastran, the list goes on. There are also some specialty codes.
