I have an application to run I/O and analogue between two building over a fibre optic link. Does anyone have a recommended solution. The client has expressed that he does not want a plc solution.(Same)

Does the customer have any specific needs? Like many channels, high precision, high band-width, low-level signals? What are the numbers?

What's wrong with a properly chosen PLC? Or is it the other PLC he doesn't want? (Power Line Communication)

HI

The application is to control two remote boreholes that are remote fron the control section. The applications requires PID control.

Signals required 2 Analogue 2-20ma 10 Digial I/o for each borehole.

The customer does not want Plc control so the control for PID is to be via a ABB Commander PID controller.

I believe there're plenty similar devices. This is simply first thing I ran into after googling.

Do it right or don't do it at all.

This can be achieved relatively cheaply using Hirschmann switches from the rail switch family, Rs20 Fx/Fx cost around £700 each or maybe with fibre spiders, which cost less than £100 each or a combination of both. Westermo also have something similar.
