I feel inadequate as a chemical engineering student and i want to start again. Does any one please know any books i could use to get my chemical engineering fundamentals right? Thanks.

"Elementary Principles of Chemical Processes" by Felder and Rousseau.

"Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering" by McCabe and Smith.

Good luck,

Unit Operations is the classic book for Chemical Engineering. Mine has a combination of tears, beer stains, and dog eared pages. You could also consider: "Plant Design and Economics for Chemical Engineers" by Peters and Timmerhouse as well as Perry's. I'm not sure if you're in the energy industry, but the GPA Data Book is invaluable. Also, get a copy of the Crane 410 Paper.
