I Need Some Career advice

I have graduate from the University of the West Indies with a BSc Computer Science and Electronics Lower Second Class Honours.I applied for a Job in my country Antigua and the only Job I could get is Data Processor Job at or public Utilities Company(which involves filing, and calculating bills for various utilities).I spoke to the manager and he told me that I don't have a engineering degree to do what I wanted to do (which is to work in the Telecommunications area of the company).I wondering if what I have studied is worthless for what I want to do and also does it make sense to go away and study for a BEng in Electrical Engineering.

These are the course I took for the BSc Computer Science Course:
Circuit Analysis, Digital Electronics, Microprocessors, Circuit Simulation, Discrete Device Electronics, Control and Instrumentation, Digital Signal Processing, Microcomputers and Control, Digital Communications, Calculus

Computer Programming, Discrete Mathematics, Information Structures, Computer Architecture, Software Engineering, Operating Systems, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Object Oriented Programming, Database Management Systems

Try a dozen other companies before getting doubts about your degree! There must be suitable jobs out there. Good luck.

Geography is going to be a bit of a factor for you especially if you wish to stay on or near Antigua. Computer Science and Electronics is likely going to get you considered for Technician type positions. Decide if this is what you want to do. You could also check to see how much additional effort is needed to get the EE degree. This of course begs the question, why did you not go for a EE to begin with?

I did the BSc because I loved programming and Electronics and i did not know about the BEnd until I finished my first year.I guess I aam kind a screwed then.

I would recommend taking a look at what it would require for your EE then if you can. The education combination could be quite powerful enabling you to work hardware, firmware and software. Also, check the employment situation and see if you would have additional opportunities as a EE. Good luck.
