I have to calculate mass flow rate of hot oil used in reboiler for maintaining distillation column bottom temp
According to the data
I have reboiler duty, Reboiler temperature is maintained around 300 Celsius
This is the only data available

For calculations I have these equation
Q=mc(ti-to)
Q=UA(lmtd)
I dont have hot oil inlet outlet temp neither do I have U value
So how to I perform the calculations

Either this is an underdefined problem and you have to solve it by stating a series of plausible assumptions or you should review the problem statement again and make sure you haven't missed any information. Maybe the question depends on solving a previous question, some textbooks have questions written like that. Check the chapter itself for a similar problem or a table of U values that are common for certain types of operations.

Yeah I thought so too
That all values were not given
Just wanted to confirm
Thank you for the reply

So this is a homework problem exactly like the kind you get in the real world. Find out all the unknowns, then give it to the subcontractor to come up with the solution.

I like it.
