I don't see sections in Edit Section Assignment 1

I defined sections and now I want to assign section but when I open the Edit Assign Section Assignment I do not see Sections to pick. What is the problem?

Are you sure that when trying to assign section you have proper model and part open ?

When I define a section as solid, I can not assign section but when I changed the section to shell, I can pick it. Does it matter?

Which section type you can assign depends on the type of part. So if your part is 2D or 3D solid then you can only assign solid section to it. But if your part is 3D shell then you have to select from available shell sections.

That's rather unusual. Make sure that your solid section is displayed in Sections container in the model tree. Also carefully select proper region for section assignment. If nothing else works you can try creating new section during assignment (there's a button in Edit Section Assignment window on the right from expandable list that allows you to create new section). Was your part modeled in Abaqus or imported ?

Maybe the part is not a solid, but just the outer faces.
Display the part in the Part-module and use Tools->Query->Part Diagnostics to check.

Maybe you can convert the shell hull into a solid with Shape->Solid->From Shell.
Otherwise go back to the CAD system, check what it is there and transfer the solid via step-file to A/CAE.
