This, I'm sure. Is well below the curve from what you folks talk about but I don't know where else to turn.

I have a problem I'm trying to solve when it comes to water flowing thru a pipe with a slit in it.

Set up:
This is for an aquarium. Yeah. sorry.
I have water flowing down a 3/4" PVC pipe(gravity only) about 3'. The water then enters a horizontal pipe with a 1/8" slit in it. and the pipe is dead headed so the water flows out the 1/8th" pipe slit.

Now my problem. Is I'm trying to achieve equal flow out of the 1/8" along the entire 17" slit..or at least close to it.

How can I achieve this? Basicly I need a reasonably simple plumbing or slit configuration that will accomplish this if possible.

I'm using this slit to saturate a mesh screen with a waterfall like flow over the mesh.

Here is a link to a post with the sort of set up that is commonly used. No need to read it unless it'll help. The pictures show the pipe, slit, and the mesh that i'm trying to achieve even flow over.

If anyone has a solution I would be VERY happy!

Some math

The cross section of your 3/4 inch pipe is ~0.5 square inches.
The open area of your slit is 1/8 x 17= ~2 square inches.

The area of your slit is four times that of your pipe.

To get even flow out of your slit the ratio should be at least the opposite.

Go for a much larger pipe (3 in diameter) or thinner slit at 1/32 inch wide.
