Has anyone experienced hydrogen cracking in ductile irons? We have observed a circular discontinuity on the fracture surface (just below the cast surface) of a ductile iron component, which is similar to what we have seen previously with hydrogen cracking in alloy steel components. Visual and microstructural examinations have not been able to identify alternative causes for the occurrence of this discontinuity.
