You need a valve that has a maximum rated flow as near as possible to your actual flow so it will have to open fully and give stable control. Also I always recommend a valve with internal and external pilot supply if the cylinder needs full force at the end of stroke. For cylinders that only need resistance to running away loads I use an internally piloted valve. Bud Trinkel
