I really need to brush up on my HVAC design skills. Can anyone recommend a good book that covers duct design & fan selection procedures in detail with good examples?

If you can afford it, join ASHRAE. It doesn't cost much and you get a lot in return. Each year you get a new Guide which are excellent. They cover just about everything you should ever need.

I am an ASHRAE and CIBSE member (UK based), but the ASHRAE membership is really good value and if I ever need any specialised technical info, I go to ASHRAE for it.

HVAC Equations, Data and Rules of Thumb - Arthur A. Bell Jr.

I highly recommend as a starting place for any HVAC design.
