Hi
I have a 6" concrete slab that is 7.2m (23.6 foot) wide and 9.0m (29.5 foot) long that needs to be cast in one go. I am doing the laying of the concrete. The concrete will be ready-mix.

Am I being too ambitious trying to tamp a 7.2m width? I have no shortage of men and I was going to make the tamper from a ply-wood box-beam.

Thanks

That's difficult for that width, but can be done. The box beam will likely deflect (making for a slab that is not flat) and be unwieldy, even for several to handle. I would rent a vibrating screed for that size or break it into smaller sections. Even if you break into smaller sections, you can set temporary screed guides and remove those as you go.

Thank you. I have looked up a roller screed that will do the job.

Many thanks
