how to use slot connector in abaqus

as is shown in attached picture, i need to use a connector in presented device to constrain the upper and Lower in special manner:

for first 4 mm horizontal displacement of Lower plate the connector doesn't engage but after that engage and transfer all the load applied at the bottom of plates to the upper plate.
as is shown in abaqus manual, i think slot connector and using lock or stop feature of this connector can be helpful.
but now i am really confused in using slot connector.
Any ideas or thoughts on what I can do?

No connector has a stop-criteria active by default. Don't get confused by the image.

Choose a connector based on what you want to do with the DOFs and add stop-criteria as needed.
