I have imported a concave conicle surface in iges format. It has many multi-facets, is there a way to make these into a smooth surface?
TIA Alan

Try knitting the surfaces. Insert Surface Knit
Try Delete Face (with fill selected), which will insert a filled surface

Best thing would be to use the iges as a template and reconstruct parametrically (again depends on your constraints)

Not sure of the nature of the file so a screen cap would be helpful

Sounds like someone built this in another program and exported it in STL format originally. Perhaps you can ask them to export directly to IGES, parasolid (X_T) or STEP and the facets will become a smooth surface. STL breaks all surfaces into triangles and is not suitable for smooth surfaces unless the surfaces are flat.
