Here is my problem I have a tapped hole location that is offset from a drilled hole positive x .625
I am trying to change the offset from the positive side to the negative side.
What I tried was typing 0.0000394 to move tapped hole to center of drilled hole or equivilant of 0.000 and next typing -.625 to move on the negative side.
And it will not except the negative number.
Anyone have a way I can reverse the direction of that dimension?

You can't do it. You'll have to delete the dimension, move the geometry, and re-create the dimension.

You know I tried that and now I get an error message saying no body selected for feature scope.
What is that about?

Are you using the hole wizard? If yes, delete the dimension of the point and drag it to the other side and re-dimension it.

Feature Scope is in your help try looking there first before posting.

Feature Scope
All bodies. The feature is applied to all bodies every time the feature regenerates. If you add new bodies to the model that are intersected by the feature, these new bodies are also regenerated to include the feature.

Selected bodies. The feature is only applied to the bodies you select using the pointer . If you add new bodies to the model that are intersected by the feature, you need to use Edit Feature to select those bodies, and to add them to the list of selected bodies. If you do not add the new bodies to the list of selected bodies, they remain intact.

Auto-select. The option is selected by default, and is only available if you click Selected bodies. When you first create a model with multibody parts, the feature automatically processes all the relevant intersecting parts. The Auto-select option is faster than the All bodies option, since it processes only the bodies on the initial list, and does not regenerate the entire model. If you click Selected bodies, and clear Auto-select, you must select the bodies you want to include from the graphics area.

And there are lots of examples in the help.

But its probably because you selected the profile because it was not a closed boundary when you extruded it or something and it required you to pick the profile... or you just selected in the feature manager. There are many reasons why to use it and many reasons why it gets used when you don't needed it.

Read the help on this for further information on such issues.

If this is just a one-off move, then handlemans & smcadmans suggestion is the way to go.

If this is something you need to do often, you could place the locating point on a construction circle of the required (offset) radius & use an angle to control the radial position.

In sketches, sometimes this works:
[ul][li]toggle your dimension so that it is driven.[/li][li]drag your sketch entity to near the new location[/li][li]toggle the dimension back to driving[/li][/ul]

Drat, I was all set to post and then realized TheTick had already taken it. Do that, it works well for me.

I'm not the "poweruser" of most of the previous posters, but isn't there a switch for "right-hand rule" and "left-hand rule" in SW? If so, you should be able to switch to "left-hand rule", can't you?

TheTick ... Could that be done prior to SW06?

GBor ... Never heard of that one!
