How to realize this Face Blend 2

See the attached model. This is the only approach that I could get to work. It should be OK since it's still using the original 'body' as the source for the faces of the 'Thicken' feature.

And in case, you wouldn't have this third surface and the similiar problem will occur, you can solve this problem with surfacing. I have attached my model, where I have used some surfacing technique.
