Hello colleagues,

Here is my "homework":

Task: estimate your [companies] average typical file size (in MB) for your small, medium, and large NX part files.
Assumption: the NX assembly level model will drive the largest file sizes.

Background:
I am an experienced NX/Teamcenter User, not IT professional. [wink]
We are using Teamcenter 2007 and NX 7.5.
Information requested for "Data Profile" section for Siemens SOW.
I have been provided 3 NX/Teamcenter Assembly part files that represent a small/medium/large example to sample.

Question: where does one even begin!?!?!? [ponder]

Any/all suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you!!

i don't understand, you want to know the size of your files ?

One way is to export the assembly outside Teamcenter, then the file browser will tell.
If something prevents you to do the export, you have to Right-click the respective dataset in Teamcenter, -Named references , the dialog that pops up will contain a ugpart which has a size.
- then sum up all these numbers...

Tomas

Attached is a GRIP program which will total up the size of an Assembly and its Components in terms of the disk space that it would take if it were all one part file. And while this program was written 21 years ago (and last updated 18 years ago) it still runs fine (I just tested it on NX 10.0.2.2). Note that it only works for files in 'Native Mode' and not Teamcenter.

After downloading the file, edit the file extension from '.zipper' to '.zip' before attempting to extract the files.
